Many districts are migrating to an RTI (Response to Intervention) model. Teachers are looking for formal and informal assessments to use to identify students who may be struggling with basic skills and at risk. The sooner these students are assessed and identified, the more appropriate and successful the interventions will be. Our worksheets, readings, test item files and workbooks include assessment tools you can use to spot those students early in the school year.

Data collection for teachers: prepare for teacher accountability.

*A central component of all RTI models is early screening of all students to identify those at risk for academic difficulties. In your school you may use DIBELS™ assessments as formal tools to identify students at risk of falling behind in reading. Teachers have reported that our readings, test items, and workbooks can be terrific tools for informal classroom assessment and for progress monitoring in reading and mathematics. Teachers are looking for ways to document student achievement at the classroom level. Our readings, test item files, and workbooks are tools you can use. Ongoing progress monitoring is made possible by moving through the sets from below grade level through the next levels. Try classroom peer tutoring to help spread the learning. Form groups of like minded teachers in your school to learn more about RTI. Use our free progress monitoring data collection tool to document the interventions you are using. Ed Reform is moving in a direction where teachers will be evaluated based on student achievement, it's only a matter of time. Learn how to start creating your accountability book or binder.
